Consider it a successful first visit to Riga for the Eureka! Poker Tour.
Riga hosted 278 players for the Main Event, all with the hopes of becoming the first winner of Eureka! Latvia.
In the end, Valtteri Merikallio (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-693rd) of Finland won the big prize, taking home over 68K EURO for his efforts this week at the Royal Casino.
Merikallio defeated popular English pro Sam MacDonald (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-1,248th) heads-up. MacDonald certainly had the Twitter rail rooting for him on Sunday. Although it's not a victory, MacDonald still picks up the biggest live tournament cash of his poker career, collecting over 43K EURO for second.
Another Finn, Joni Nenonen (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-1,936th), finished fourth in the event. Nenonen lost to recent Unibet Open winner Pratik Ghatge in a side event at EPT London in 2011.
