2012 WSOP: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL TABLE PREVIEW

WSOP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP |
157 ENTRIES | 1.57M PRIZEPOOL

Final table play in the The World Series of Poker National Championship will take place on Wednesday in what will, in theory, pit some of the upcoming "minor" league poker players against some of the best poker professionals during the past two WSOP and WSOP Europe Series.

The Top 100 WSOP Circuit qualifiers all earned a freeroll entry into this event. The WSOP forked over the 10K buy-in for each player.

In order to qualify through the WSOP Circuit, a player needed to have won a Circuit event during the 2011-12 season or be part of the Top 100 which was based on points accumulated during qualifying WSOP Circuit events - you were automatically added to the Top 100 if you won a Main Event.

The event was then made available to the Top 100 players in the past two WSOP Seasons - based on WSOP Player of the Year points accumulated in 2010 and 2011 WSOP and WSOP Europe events.

In order to enter the event under the Top 100 Player of the Year points format, that player needed to pay the 10K registration, however, no rake would be taken from the amount. 57 of those Top 100 players chose to enter the event.

After two days of play, the field shrunk from 157 to what we have now, the Final 8 players. The final table will be filmed and televised on ESPN as part of their WSOP run of shows this summer/fall.

Here is a look at the final table seat assignments and chip stacks:

Seat 1 David “ODB” Baker 281,000 2010-11 WSOP POY TOP 100
Seat 2 Amanda Musumeci 322,000 2011-12 WSOP CIRCUIT QUALIFIER
Seat 3 Sam Stein 651,000 2010-11 WSOP POY TOP 100
Seat 4 Huy Nguyen 331,000 2011-12 WSOP CIRCUIT QUALIFIER
Seat 5 Yung Hwang 1,224,000 2011-12 WSOP CIRCUIT QUALIFIER
Seat 6 Nikolas Stone 471,000 WSOPC HARRAH'S ST. LOUIS WINNER
Seat 7 Matt Keikoan 957,000 2010-11 WSOP POY TOP 100
Seat 8 Ryan Eriquezzo 474,000 WSOPC CAESARS ATLANTIC CITY WINNER

DAVID BAKER
The "ODB" David Baker (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 7th) has had a great summer at the Series. Baker has cashed six (6) times this Series, has earned (3) Top 5 finishes, including his first bracelet in Event #37 Eight-Game Mix.

With over 580K in winnings already this summer, Baker, who will start the day as the short stack, will certainly hope to ride his winning streak into the final table.

A win for Baker and he will jump to #2 on the 2012 QuadJack Poker Player of the Year Leaderboard - powered by PTPRpoker.

AMANDA MUSUMECI
Amanda Musumeci (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-151th) is fresh off a second-place finish at Event #9 NLH Re-Entry at the WSOP earlier last month.

Musumeci also counts a total of four Top 10 finishes at event on the 2011-12 WSOP Circuit (in prelim events at Palm Beach, Caesars AC, Council Bluffs, Harrah's STL).

SAM STEIN

2012 WSOP: BIG ONE FOR ONE DROP - A FINAL LOOK BACK

EVENT #55 |
1M BIG ONE FOR ONE DROP |
48 ENTRIES | 42.66M PRIZEPOOL

It was magic, and so very fitting that the Magician himself, Antonio Esfandiari, won the Big One for One Drop, in what will go down as the biggest and most prestigious tournament in poker history.

Esfandiari (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 11th) defeated young UK mega cash game/high buy-in master Sam Trickett (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-217th) heads-up. You may shocked to hear that this is the first time that Trickett has posted a PTPR-qualifying result in 2012 ... that's because Trickett has been busy taking on all comers in the biggest cash games in the world in Macau.

With his fourth place finish, Phil Hellmuth does exactly what he did last year at this time, that is enter the Top 10 for the season. Phil now stands in 8th position on the 2012 QuadJacks Poker Player of the Year Leaderboard - powered by PTPRpoker.

2012 WSOP: DAY 38 RECAP - NOT THAT FAST! JAFFE HAS TO WORK FOR BRACELET

EVENT #54 |
1K NO-LIMIT HOLD'EM |
3,221 ENTRIES | 2.89M PRIZEPOOL

William Jaffe (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-42nd) had hoped that his meaningful chip lead heading into extra day play in the latest 1K NLH event would help make today a walk in the park.

Well, things didn't go as planned as on one of the first hands of heads-up play, Jaffe's opponent, Luis Campelo (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-142nd), spiked a miracle deuce on the river to make him trips, besting Jaffe's two pair ... the rail, filled with Brazilians - all here to support their countryman - erupted in celebration with cheers and chants. The players were now almost even in chips.

Jaffe, however, managed to get things back under control and eventually was able to eliminate Campelo and collect the bracelet!

WSOP Circuit Rincon Champion Joseph Kuether (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 104th) continued his strong 2012 campaign earning his fourth PTPR score of the season with his third place finish.

Brett Schwertley, Benjamin Volpe, David "Bakes" Baker and John Eames all earned Top 18 finishes in the event.
