BIG NUMBERS SHOW UP AT EPT DEAUVILLE: ISILDUR1, BRUEL IN TOP 12

We continue with monster fields at Main Events around the whole world! This time, we stop in France for EPT Deauville ... almost 900 runners in this event!!

Amongst the leaders as we head into Day 2 are "the former man of mystery" Viktor Blom (otherwise known as Isildur1) and one of my idols growing up - French singer/actor Patrick Bruel. I was a kid when I found out that Bruel would spend time in Vegas and had won big tournaments - this was the first I had ever heard of poker tournaments ... we're talking in the late 80's, early 90's folks, pre-internet, pre-ESPN airing 400 episodes a year, pre-Rounders, pre-Annette even being born!

Bruel won a bracelet in Limit Hold'em at the 1998 World Series.

Unofficial chip counts available at the end of this post...

The winner of the event will receive 133 PTPR Points.

CANADIAN CLOSERS: MOLSON, CHEN WIN ON FINAL DAY OF PCA

Fellow Canadians Will Molson and Andrew Chen won big events on the final day at the PCA in the Bahamas.

This was Molson's (pictured, celebrating with his father) third straight year heads up at the PCA 25K High Rollers event - an amazing, almost inplausible feat - after two straight runner-ups in 2009 and 2010, Molson finally sealed the deal, winning the event. Molson, who had 3 PTPR Scores last season, earns his first PTPR Score of 2011.

Molson beat Leo Fernandez heads up. Fernandez and 4th place finisher Erik Seidel each score for the second time at the PCA. Max Lykov, David "Bakes" Baker and Jason Mercier also scored in the event.

Andrew Chen won the very popular 5K NAPT Bounty Shootout event. He won the event in very dramatic fashion, eliminating pros Shaun Deeb and Michael Binger on the same hand, to end the event.

Chen earns 102 PTPR Points for his win and is now ranked 3rd on the PTPR Player of the Year charts. Deeb earns his second PTPR Score of this very young season.

Although the PCA is now over and done with, we are still awaiting official results from a few events. Stay tuned.

PTS AT STAKE: DEEB, BINGER HIGHLIGHT PCA BOUNTY SHOOTOUT FT

We're down to the final table of six players at the 216-player 5K Bounty Shootout at the PCA down in the Bahamas.

Each remaining player has won two heats and $50,000 already - plus, whatever bounties they have collected up to now are theirs to keep.

The toughest bounty of them would have come when final table participant Michael Binger eliminated his brother Nick, and collected his bounty. Next Sunday dinner may be a little quiet for the Bingers!

Binger is joined at the final table by red-hot Shaun Deeb. Deeb didn't even earn a single PTPR score last season, yet, he's already in the Top 15 this season with a second place finish at the PCA earlier this week. Deeb will look to ride the momentum.

Deeb has this to say in a tweet (@shaundeeb) earlier today...

sometime around noon tomorrow will be playing the final table of shootout on pokerstars.tv should be very fun I'm quite excited

Pokerstars pro Ville Wahlbeck is the other big name at the final table and will be looking to bring a NAPT title back to Finland.

Canadian Andrew Chen, German Marko Neumann and American Scott Baumstein (who eliminated Jude Ainsworth heads up to advance) are the other final table participants.

102 PTPR Points to the winner!

PTPR UPDATE: PCA MAIN DAY 2 IN THE BOOKS, GUGA GONE

Tennis fan, it's game, set and match for former #1 Gustavo Kuerten. Guga did not survive Day 2 at the PCA Main in the Bahamas - but, he did make the money, and that's something to be very proud about with this amazing field.

Guga and over 1,300 other players have seen their tournament come to an end, we have 173 players remaining.

Day 3 will start tomorrow with Adam Geyer as the unofficial chip leader. Mike Sowers, Chris Moneymaker, Eric Buchman, Eric Froehlich and Dwyte Pilgrim all sit atop the Top 12 in chips.

SUPER HIGH: KATCHALOV OUTLASTS NEGREANU TO WIN PCA SUPER HIGH ROLLERS

Congratulations to Eugene Katchalov for winning the first big buy-in event of the 2011 poker season - the PCA Super High Rollers 100k buy-in event. It's still stunning to see that 38 players all put up 100,000 to play this event - Katchalov rakes in 1.5M for the win, not bad for three days of work - at less than 8 hours a day at that!

Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu should also be commended for his second place finish, a great start to the season for both he and Eugene.

Negreanu just posted the following on Twitter (@RealKidPoker):

1 million doesn't suck. Eugene is a great player and I'm happy for him. Great start to the year!

The PCA Main Event is now under way - big points will be on the line with this event - unforutnately, the Super High Rollers event did not count towards PTPR Points due to the fact that the minimum 50 players necessary to score points was not met.
