NOT SO FAST! DON'T WRITE OFF GUS HANSEN JUST YET!

It's been a tough year for Gus Hansen. Things have not gone as planned on line and many were ready to kiss his career goodbye - suggesting that the game that he helped propel to new levels had passed him by.

Well, not so fast. Hansen wrapped up a marathon three match session at the WSOPE High Roller Head's Up with a win, winning his first bracelet!

The first two matches lasted so long that both players and tournament officials agreed to move the third match to earlier today. Hansen was down by a ton early but, he was able to crawl his way back into the match to win it all. Thumbs up to Hansen's opponent, Jim Collopy, for a fine effort.

Ram Vaswani, Andrew Feldman, Daniel Negreanu, Huck Seed and Neil Channing were among the other players scoring points in this event.

LAAK, LISANDRO WIN WSOPE PRELIMS

The 2010 World Series of Poker Europe is well underway - with the Main Event down to 60-some players - there are two big names that have picked up bracelets in the three completed prelim events ... and one who's been involved in a two-day heads up battle!

Popular player Phil Laak captured his first bracelet in the opening event of the tournament. The Unabomber was the winner in the 244-player Six-Handed NLH event.

2009 WSOP Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro earned his fifth bracelet by winning Event 2 - Pot-Limit Omaha.

The UK's Scott Shelley won Event 3 - NLH ... amazingly, this is the first live result ever posted by Shelley.

In other news, Gus Hansen is back on the map - he's involved in a bitter battle in the High Stakes Heads Up event ... tied at one round a piece. The final best-of-three matchup was pushed to Sunday - as the first two games lasted over 12 hours.

On the Main Event side of things, big names like Ivey, Negreanu, Blohm, Levi, Timoshenko, Baker (not Bakes), Greenstein, Mueller, Schulman, Corkins, de Wolfe and Deeb are still alive.

DWYTE PILGRIM - MINOR LEAGUER NO MORE

Dwyte Pilgrim rose to stardom on the "minor league" circuit playing lights out poker on the WSOP Circuit tour for the past year. Pilgrim has dominated US events outside of Vegas. Well, it's not Vegas, but, it's a WPT Tour title at Borgata for Pilgrim - putting him on the pro-circuit map and propelling him into the PPTR Top 10 for the first time!

Pokerati's Dan Makowsky (5th), Jeffrey Papola (7th) and John D'Agostino (14th) are other notables that scored points in the event.

This event was a major success for the re-surging World Poker Tour - 1,042 players attended the event, making it the largest field ever in World Poker Tour history. Sure looks like the WPT is back on track!
