Ludovic Lacay (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-78th) has won EPT Sanremo, defeating Jason Lavallee (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-155th) heads-up for the title.
Lacay is a well-known and well-liked player on the circuit. The Frenchman already has a bunch of six-figure scores to his credit, the almost 800K EURO won today is the biggest cash of his live tournament career, surpassing the 500K USD he collected by finishing 19th in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
Lavallee will have to settle as the the bridesmaid for the second time in a major championship. Lavallee, a popular pro from the Province of Quebec in Canada, was second to Tommy Vedes at the 2009 WPT Festa al Lago, the last time he had the opportunity to win a big tournament. Still, there is no shame in winning over 530K EURO for his efforts.
EPT Grand Final 25K High Rollers fifth place finisher Artem Litvinov (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-245th) finished third in event while recent tournament winners Imed Mahmoud (WSOP Europe Kickoff NLH Six-Max Event, (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 145th)) and Matt Salsberg (WPT Grand Prix de Paris, (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-58th)) both earned POY points in the event.
Jason Tompkins (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-255th), who had the chip lead for quite some time in this event, Micah Raskin (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-524th), Ismael Bojang (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-454th), Jonas Mackoff (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-1,469th), Michael Benvenuti (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-854th) and Thomas Gabriel (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-673rd) are other notables who collected POY points in the event.
