Things are certainly heating up in the French Riviera. Only 24 players remain in the Main Event of WSOP Europe and some huge names are still in contention in Cannes.
Former November Niner Joseph Cheong (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 78th) is the big man on campus as we inch closer and closer to the final table. Subiime has had several deep runs at major events since his third place finish in the 2010 Main Event but, Cheong has yet to collect that elusive first bracelet.
Jason Mercier (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 293rd) is fifth in chips after Day 3 play. Fresh off his WCOOP High Rollers victory, Mercier is certainly looking to continue his hot streak here in Cannes.
The most decorated poker player in WSOP history is still in contention. The Poker Brat himself, Phil Hellmuth (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 15th) is sixth in chips heading into Wednesday's play.
Hellmuth, who collected his 12th WSOP bracelet earlier this summer in Vegas - his first in a non-hold'em event, has already cashed three times in Cannes.
Another bracelet winner from the summer, Canadian Timothy Adams (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-19th), also has his eyes set on another bracelet. Adams, who final tabled the WPT Grand Prix de Paris last month, rounds-out the Top 10.
Silver, Julius, Boeree, Dannenmann, Seiver, Benyamine, Frankenberger and Kuether are just a few of the other big name players still in contention.
