Yet another full house is expected for Day 1B at WPT Montreal at the Playground Poker Club in less than an hour.
Many of the biggest names of poker are in Montreal, and many of them had an early start playing the 1K Deepstack event presented on Wednesday and Thursday.
We were 13 players short of 400 for the Deepstack event with American (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-321st) Buck Ramsay collecting 84K CAD for the win, earning his first POY points of the 2012 season.
Homegrown talent Jason Duval (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-683rd) was third in the event. Duval finished 8th at EPT Madrid earlier this season - Bruno Lopes aka Kool Shen was fourth in that same event.
We only bring up Lopes into this conversation because he also has a connection with our other highlight player from this tournament, sixth place finisher Vladimir Faubert (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-1,650th), who finished in 8th position at the Euro Finals of Poker Diamond Championship event back in January ... Lopes won that event. 2012 WSOP bracelet winner Aubin Cazals was second at the EFOP Diamond event.
Samuel Chartier was 11th in the event, Francois Billard was 13th while Laurence Grondin finished in 19th position.
The #2 ranked player in the world, Marvin Rettenmaier, cashed, finishing in 27th position.
