EPT SAN REMO: MIRACLE MAN! PATEYCHUK WINS BIG AT SAN REMO!

PHOTO/SOURCE: POKERSTARSBLOG.com

Russian Andrey Pateychuk is the latest EPT champion. Pateychuk defeated Bulgarian player Dimitar Danchev heads up ... but, it wasn't supposed to go down this way - at least, not until the poker gods decided to get involved.

A 95% underdog in a earlier all-in hand, Pateychuk hit a miracle river card (the 5 of hearts) in order to not only survive, but, to get right back into contention in his heads up match with Danchev. A little while after that, Pateychuk was on his way to his second PTPR Score of the season - Pateychuk finished 15th at the WSOP Main Event back in July.

PTPR LEADERBOARD LIVE LOOK-IN
37. Shaun Deeb, 172 PTPR Points
38. Allen Bari, 172
38. Farzad "Freddy" Bonyadi, 170
39. Joseph Ebanks, 169
40. Andrey Pateychuk, 168
41. Jon Turner, 166

It was a second score for many others who received PTPR Points during this event: Yorane Kerignard, Kevin MacPhee (who was unable to become the first 2-time EPT Champion), Johnny Lodden, Christopher McClung, Lex Veldhuis and Michael McDonald all joined Pateychuk with a second score in 2011.

Alessio Isaia was the big chart mover, moving up two spots to 4th overall on the 2011 PTPR Player of the Year Leaderboard. The WPT Venice Champion held the #1 spot earlier this season. It's been quite a fine year so far for the Italian. Isaia also joins Jason Mercier, Matthew Waxman, Steve O'Dwyer and Maxim Lykov as the players with the most PTPR Scores in 2011 - all with seven.
