A FINAL LOOK AT: EPT SAN REMO IS RUPERT ELDER'S SHINING MOMENT

PHOTO/SOURCE: POKERSTARSBLOG.com

Rupert Elder's goal was simple - spoil Max Heinzelmann's party for the second straight EPT Event - and he did.

Elder's EPT San Remo win means that Max Heinzelmann finishes runner-up for the second straight EPT event .. Martin Jacobson also has two 2nd place finishes this EPT season .. it's a trend that both will hope to end with a EPT Grand Final win - the Grand Final, which will be held in Madrid, Spain, starts Saturday.

Heinzelmann still moves up to 6th overall on the 2011 PTPR Player of the Year Leaderboard, a small consolation prize for sure, but, an important stat nonetheless.

Max Lykov was unable to move up into the Top 25. He finished fourth but needed a third place finish in order to move up. Still, this is Lykov's fourth PTPR Score of the year and he looks to carry the momentum into the EPT Grand Final and the WSOP.

Here are the payouts for the final table participants:
1st. Rupert Elder, United Kingdom, €930,000
2nd. Max Heinzelmann, Germany, €600,000
3rd. Xuan Liu, Canada, €360,000
4th. Max Lykov, Russia, Team PokerStars Pro, €290,000
