It wasn't the way that Jackie Glazier (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 83rd) had planned this.
Coming into extra day play in order to defend a 3:1 chip lead over heads-up opponent Greg Ostrander (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 48th) with her eyes set on her first career WSOP braclet - and become the first woman win a open event at the WSOP since 2008 - everything seemed to be going Glazier's way.
But - as they say - "that's why you play the game".
All it takes is a few double ups, and that's what Ostrander ended up doing, eventually taking the chip lead and never looking back from then.
For Glazier - the defending Melbourne Championships Champion - it's opportunity missed but, for Ostrander, it's celebration and jubilation on the heels of his first even WSOP bracelet win.
Paul Vas Nunes (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 263rd), Morten Mortensen (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-312th), Darryl Ronconi (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-420th), Kyle Frey (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-766th) and Dylan Hortin (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-166th) all final tabled the event.
JP Kelly (and his raucous rail), Mario Puccini, Fabrice Soulier, Jason Koon, Elio Fox and Scott Montgomery all earned Top 18 finishes.
The aforementioned Koon (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 43rd) enters the QuadJacks Poker Player of the Year - powered by PTPRpoker - Top 50 for 2012.
