Eugene Katchalov and Alessio Isais took center-stage Saturday night at the Rio. Both players made it to heads play at the WSOP Event 4 Seven Card Stud event.
That meant a shakedown of epic proportions atop the 2011 PTPR Tournament Player of the Year Leaderboard!
Katchalov, who stood right outside the Top 15 heading into Saturday's final table play, won the event - collecting his first WSOP bracelet in the process - and skyrockets up the charts to #2 on the PTPR Leaderboard.
Katchalov, regarded as one of the best live tournament players in the world, finally captures his bracelet - to go with his WPT title at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic during Season VI. This was Katchalov's fourth PTPR Score of the year.
The only player that could prevent Katchalov from taking over the #1 spot on the PTPR Charts was Alessio Isaia - and he did just that! Isaia's second-place finish earned him enough points to hold Katchalov off, and take over the #1 spot on the PTPR Leaderboard. The reigning WPT Venice champ held the #1 rank earlier this season - he earned his 5th PTPR Score of the season.
The man who entered the day in second place on the Leaderboard actually posted a score in this event as well. Ali Eslami finished the event in 7th position, earning him 28 PTPR Points. Eslami's third PTPR Score was still not enough to prevent him from falling to third on the season.
Galen Hall, points leader heading into the event, now sits fourth on the list.
