2011 WSOP: WILL THE POKER BRAT GET THE LAST LAUGH?

PHOTO/SOURCE: POKERNEWS.com

Phil Hellmuth may be hours away from forcing a lot of people to eat crow. Many believed that Hellmuth was done, a has-been, a guy who simply could not adjust to the "new" ways of power poker.

Add to that the fact that most believed that Hellmuth could only rule in hold'em (granted, all of his 11 bracelets have come in hold'em events). But, Hellmuth has already cashed two runner-up finishes in non-hold'em events at this year's WSOP and, he's about to earn his third .. but this time, it's for all the marbles.

We won't get into the debate of which event is more presitigous here - the WSOP Main Event is known as the "Cadillac" event of the series but, the WSOP Poker Players Championship - which carries a 50K buy-in - trully finds the best overall poker player in the world - due to the fact that many different poker games are played in the tournament.

And that, gulp, may just be Phil Hellmuth! With five players remaining, Hellmuth has the table under control, this is his tournament to lose.

Even more frightning for Hellmuth's opponents? Once we hit the ESPN final table a couple of hours ago, the event converted into a NLH-only final table - let's just say the King of Hold'em has 'em right where he wants 'em - go get 'em Phil!

Chip counts (at 7:00PM Vegas time):
1 Phil Hellmuth 6,650,000
2 Brian Rast 4,950,000
3 Owais Ahmed 3,425,000
4 Minh Ly 2,650,000
5 Matt Glantz 1,350,000

U.S. viewers can currently log on to ESPN3.com and see the final table live.
