Traditionally, the Heartland Poker Tour has been a two-day weekend event - this has changed for 2012. The HPT will now hold it's final table play on Mondays. That said, the final six survivors will return to the Daytona Beach Kennel Club and Poker Room tomorrow to play down to a winner - the first of the 2012 Heartland Poker Tour season.
"Oklahoma Tony" Lay holds the lead, his first live tournament cash came way back in 2004. Lay (2011 PTPR Rank: NR) finished sixth at HPT Quapaw last October.
Like Lay, Troy Wallace (currently second) and Barry Hutter (currently the low stack), have several cashes in their career - a HPT Tour victory for any final table participant would be the biggest payout of his career.
Note that the man currently in fifth position, Michael McDonald, is not the Mike McDonald you may be thinking of - Mike "Timex" McDonald is not at this event - Timex busted the Fallsview Poker Classic 5K Main Event in Niagara Falls earlier today.
