We close out EPT Deauville with a look at the 1K France Poker Series Event...


Ludovic Sultan had a little over 40K in live tournament winnings heading into the 1K tourney. Sultan can now add a cool, crisp, 82K Euro after his victory.

Sultan defeated Joep Van Den Bijgaart heads up. Van Den Bijgaart (2011 PTPR Rank: 405th) won a Master Classics of Poker Side Event last season.

Yury Gulyy (2011 PTPR Rank: 2703rd) picked up his second set of points at Deauville while Raymond Santucci (2011 PTPR Rank: 835th) earned his first PTPR Points of 2012 - Santucci won the Partouche Poker Tour Nice Main Event last season.

EPT DEAUVILLE: GOOD START TO THE YEAR CONTINUES FOR VISSER

It's been a good start to 2012 for Ruben Visser. Visser has accumulated over 400K in winnings in the first few weeks of the poker season. After finishing eighth at the PCA Main Event, Visser collected the win here in Deauville last week - in the 1K NLH Random Bounty Event.

Now Visser just picked up a huge chunk of change finishing second in the PokerStars.fr 10K NLH High Rollers Event. That cash out puts Visser (2011 PTPR Rank: 2090th) over the 1M mark for live tournament cashes on his career - very impressive!

The winner of the event was Eric Sfez (2011 PTPR Rank: NR). Sfez picked up the first win of his live tournament poker career - his first live cash dating back to 2005.

Samuel Chartier earned his second PTPR Score in as many days. Chartier (2011 PTPR Rank: 106th) now has 33 PTPR Points on the season, he finished 2011 with 141.

Finally, Mikhail Lakhitov also collected PTPR Points in this event. Lakhitov (2011 PTPR Rank: 52nd) won a braclet last summer in WSOP Event 36 - No Limit Holdem.

Matthias de Meulder wins the 1.5K NLH Turbo Event at the PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville.

de Meulder (2011 PTPR Rank: 1483rd) had a deep run at EPT Barcelona last season. de Meulder defeated 377 other participants to win the second event of his live tournament poker career - he first won in 2009; winning the Main Event at the Mini WSOP in Ireland that November.

Canada's Samuel Chartier finished sixth in the event. Chartier (2011 PTPR Rank: 106th) already had a bunch of points at this point last season, he had won the PLO 8-Max Championship at the PCA a month earlier. See Chartier in next post as he posted another score at Deauville.

Christian Tardea (2011 PTPR Rank: 1843rd), Yury Gulyy (2011 PTPR Rank: 2703rd) and Viacheslav Igin (2011 PTPR Rank: 346th) also collected points in the event.

Duhamel (2011 PTPR Rank: 71st) has collected a total of nine PTPR Scores in a little over a year - he's already one off his five earned in 2011 - it certainly looks like Duhamel is here to stay, proving that his 2010 Main Event title was no fluke.

Ukrainian Roman Romanovsky won the event, defeating the UK's Ben Vinson (2011 PTPR Rank: 1748th) heads up.

It looks like Vadzim Kursevich got himself an early birthday present on Monday. Turning 25 on Wednesday, Kursevich collected the first title of his young poker career on the circuit - along with cashing in a monster €875,000 paycheque, happy birthday, Vadzim!

Kursevich (2011 PTPR Rank: 259th) enjoyed some success in 2011 but, despite (2) third place finishes good for a combined +500K US, he had not been able to pickup that first major victory - that all changed for the Belarsian on Monday.

It was yet another EPT Final Table for Luca Pagano. But, what looked like a tournament for him and only him to win a few days ago, slipped out of his hands during Sunday's play - and Pagano (2011 PTPR Rank: 201st) was unable to get things done during final table play. Pagano finished seventh in the event.

We have reached the final table at the PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville Main Event.

PokerStars online qualifier Paul Gichard leads the Final 8 but Belarus pro Vadzim Kursevich is right behind him. Add to the fact that Kursevich (2011 PTPR Rank: 259th) has deep run experience on the circuit with three of them in 2011 alone, and the Belarusian looks to be the odds on favourite to take this down.

The chip leader coming into Sunday's play was Italian pro Luca Pagano. The defending IPT San Remo Champion, Pagano (2011 PTPR Rank: 201st) had a tough go at it on Sunday and now finds himself sixth in chips, but, we would not count Pagano out just yet.

Frenchman Yorane Kerignard is one of the short stacks at the table. Kerignard (2011 PTPR Rank: 569th) had deep runs at a EPT Madrid Side Event and at EPT San Remo.

Luca Pagano leads the charge as the Final 24 is set in Deauville. The 2011 IPT San Remo Champion gained control of the chip during the day and he looked unbeatable during some stretches on Saturday.



Pagano (2011 PTPR Rank: 201st) enters Day 5 play with almost 1M more chips than his second place opponent.

Well known poker professional Kevin Vandersmissen had two second place finishes on the circuit in 2011. Vandersmissen (2011 PTPR Rank: 162nd) is looking for his first title since December 2010.

Frenchman Marc Inizan is currently 20th in chips and will be looking to add to his stack early on Sunday. Inizan (2011 PTPR Rank: 835th) finished third in the France Poker Series High Roller Event last February.

LONDON CALLING - ADENIYA LEADS EPT DEAUVILLE AFTER TWO DAYS OF ACTION

We're off and running in Deauville, as the European Poker Tour hosts one of it's biggest events of the season - Pokerstars.fr EPT Deauville.

And while more than half of the field is from France, it's Londoner Martins Adeniya who has the lead after the completion of Day 2 play.

The name Martins Adeniya may be familiar to you. Although Adeniya doesn't have any live tournament wins to his name, he did have two Top 15 finishes on the European Poker Tour in 2011.



Adeniya (2011 PTPR Rank: 521st) finished 15th at EPT Snowfest last March and then followed that up with a 7th place finish at EPT London in September.

Adeniya also holds a bunch of Top 25 finishes at the WSOP, at the PCA and in WPT events.

LOOK OUT FOR LACAY
Ludovic Lacay is a name to look out for on Day 3 Friday. Lacay is an accomplished French pro that will certainly be looking at capturing a EPT crown in his native land.

Lacay (2011 PTPR Rank: 1763rd) has a few very impressive live results on his poker resume - his latest deep runs include a 11th place finish at the Partouche Main Event in September and two seperate Top 10 finishes in 10K Championship events at the WSOP back in 2010.

OTHERS ON THE PROWL
Recent EFOP Diamond Championship winner Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes hopes to continue his winning ways on French soil. Kool Shen (2011 PTPR Rank: NR) currently sits in 18th position after Day 2.

Former IPT Nova Gorica winner Mustpha Kanit (2011 PTPR Rank: 33rd), 2010 EPT Vilamoura Champion Toby Lewis (2011 PTPR Rank: 1083rd) and defending WPT Five Diamond winner James Dempsey (2011 PTPR Rank: 61st) all hold Top 25 chip stacks and will certainly be looking to make a move on Friday.

178 players have survived the first two days and will make their way back to the Casino Barriere on Friday.

Results have finally been made available for last month's EPT Deauville 10,000 EURO High Rollers event - which was won by WSOP Champ Jonathan Duhamel.

Duhamel outlasted 57 high rollers in order to secure his first tournament win since winning the World Series of Poker Main Event back in November.

Other notables scoring PTPR Points in the tournament included: Jean Thorel (2nd PTPR Score of the season), Michele Dattani, Andrey Zaichenko and Alexander Ivarsson.


Staying in France, the Euro Finals of Poker are in full swing at the Aviation Club de France in Paris. The WPT Main Event started today but the Gold Championship was on over the weekend - Julien Muel picked up the win.

Ilan Boujenah and Petre Bogdman Ionescu were other notables at the final table.

After scoring in a six-max event at the PCA earlier this month, Marvin Rettenmaier scored for the second time in the same event 26. Rettenmaier now has 65 PTPR Points this season.

WORLD CHAMP DUHAMEL WINS EPT DEAUVILLE HIGH ROLLERS

World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel has won the 10K High Rollers event at EPT Deauville. Duhamel confirmed the news on his Twitter feed (@JonathanDuhamel) :

Just won the High Rollers tournament at EPT Deauville!

This is Duhamel's first tournament win since being crowned World Champion in November.

RDS.ca is reporting that Duhamel is taking home 200,000 Euros for the win. RDS also reports that 58 players took part in the event, making this an official PTPR Tier 3 event - Duhamel would be scoring 100 PTPR Points with this win.

COHEN'S EPT DEAUVILLE WIN MAKES JACOBSON THE BRIDE'S MAIN ... AGAIN

Lucien Cohen has captured EPT Deauville - congratulations to the man that hails from Paris, France.

Cohen defeated Martin Jacobson heads up. This was the second time in 5 months that Jacobson finished second at a EPT Main Event - he was defeated by Toby Lewis at EPT Vilamoura back in September.

Canadian Alex Wice, Frenchmen Franck Pepe and Sebastien Bidinger as well as Polish pro Andrejz Nowak-Rogozinski were other notables who scored PTPR Points. Fabrice Soulier finished 19th.

We continue with monster fields at Main Events around the whole world! This time, we stop in France for EPT Deauville ... almost 900 runners in this event!!

Amongst the leaders as we head into Day 2 are "the former man of mystery" Viktor Blom (otherwise known as Isildur1) and one of my idols growing up - French singer/actor Patrick Bruel. I was a kid when I found out that Bruel would spend time in Vegas and had won big tournaments - this was the first I had ever heard of poker tournaments ... we're talking in the late 80's, early 90's folks, pre-internet, pre-ESPN airing 400 episodes a year, pre-Rounders, pre-Annette even being born!

Bruel won a bracelet in Limit Hold'em at the 1998 World Series.
