He was chip leader going in and, although he lost the chip lead during final table play, Shawn Cunix bounced back and has won WPT BestBet Jacksonville, the final WPT event prior to the World Championship.


Cunix (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-18th) held pocket treys on the final hand - once a three hit the board, that was it, game over! Cunix takes home over 400K USD for the victory.

It was a tough start to final table play as our four fan favourites were gone within hours ... 2011 PTPR Poker Player of the Year Will "The Thrill" Failla (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: 89th) was the first to go, WPT host Tony Dunst (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-289th) was next while Daniel Buzgon (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-129th) and Darren Elias (2012 QJ/PTPR Rank: T-143rd) followed shortly thereafter.

WPT BESTBET JAX: CUNIX LEADS STAR-STUDDED FINAL TABLE

Shawn Cunix leads what could very well be one of the most entertaining final tables this season on the World Poker Tour. Cunix will carry a 660K chip lead into today's final table at WPT BestBet Jacksonville in Florida, the final World Poker Tour event before the World Championship series at Bellagio in a few weeks.

Most people will have their eyes set of 2011 PTPR Poker Player of the Year and defending WPT Legends of Poker Champion Will "The Thrill" Failla. Will has had a successful start to 2012, winning two poker tournaments, including the HPT Missouri Main Event in St. Louis. Failla would love to enter the Top 100 prior to the start of WSOP play.

For the second time in a little over a year, the WPT are in a pickle. Last season, WPT Commentator Mike Sexton was part of the final table at Bay 101, meaning the WPT needed to find a replacement commentator for that event.

Tony Dunst serves as the WPT's live steam commentator and, like Sexton at the Shooting Star, will need to be replaced on the live stream as Dunst finds himself in the middle of the race here at Jacksonville. Darryll Fish and WPT Champions Club member James Dempsey will fill-in for Dunst.
